Dinosaur Giants Tour
Visit the Eromanga Natural History Museum, just a 25 minute drive from Toogunna Plains Farmstay. Meet the largest dinosaur to have ever been found in Australia on this engaging one hour tour. Take your seat in the new Multi-media Theatre that brings our ancient giants to life. The 4th Trochanter Café is open for refreshments.
Baldy Top Lookout
Located just 6.5km from Quilpie town centre, Baldy top is a magnificent boulder formation formed naturally over millions of years and is part of the Grey Range. A relatively easy ten-minute climb to the summit will reward you with breathtaking 360 degree views. Enjoy the onsite BBQ facilities.
Knot-A-Saurus Park
The “Knot-A-Saurus Park’ is an amazing sculpture of a Sauropod and her two babies located on the southern side of Eromanga. Be sure to take a ‘selfie’ with the Sauropod and her 2 babies, made with 100 metre lengths of twisted aluminium. Spot the Dinosaur footprints and interpretive design surrounding them.
Hell Hole Gorge
Hell Hole Gorge is about 180 kilometres north of Quilpie via Adavale along unsealed roads. The park features Hell Hole Waterhole, rugged gorges rimmed by cliffs, stony tablelands and gently undulating plains. There are no visitor facilities – this park is suited to self-contained campers interested in hiking and exploring nature.
Birdwatching
Discover the many species of birds that call Quilpie Shire home. They are: Brolga, Quarrion, Boonkai, Jabiru, Winchu, Galah, Gyrica, Chulungra, Buln, Dukamurra, Chipu, Kookaburra, Murana, Eagle, Boobook and Rosella. Kybra Waterhole
Located approximately 40km north of Eromanga, the Kybra Waterhole is a great spot for a picnic and spotting local birdlife. In the 1860s, pioneer John Costello and his family settled here on the property ‘Kyabra’. Kybra Waterhole is fed by Kybra Creek and when full covers an area of around 55 hectares.
